Artist's Comments

These are a pair of masks I bought when I visited New Orleans last January.

Edit: I hate to edit a picture after people have added it to their faves and such, but I thought I'd give this image the effort it deserves. so I redid the tears and the levels a bit and I'm declaring this the final version. Enjoy.

*~*I'm a [person] of extremes, you know, I sort of change from day to day like a chameleon and each day is different to me and I look forward to that. I don't want to be the same person every day~ Freddie Mercury*~*
I like that the angle of light and shadow make them look very sad when most of the time those masks are made into passive or happy expressions. It's like even the masks mourn the passing of thier home city.

Its interesting that you say that because from the front, these masks appear to be smiling. The right angle and lighting and it all changes.
I love the hint of color. I am so sad by the whole thing. Great job. +fav.

If you can't fix it with duct tape, you haven't used enough.

dammit, when i was in the french quarter over the summer before school was starting (one of the last things me and my friends squeezed in, lol) i saw a pair of masks i fell in love with, but i didn't really want to carry it around with me and i figured i could come back a few weeks later and get them. but now i can't, lol, not for awhile at least, but at least the french quarter seems to be okay.
lol, enough nostalgia, it's a beautiful picture, when i get back home to N.O. it'll be one of the first things i buy to decorate my room :)

Hello...
I was wondering if you would be interested in having this or another piece published in an Art Book benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims.

You would retain all rights to the piece and all proceeds from the book (which will be sold at cross-country independent bookstores, galleries, coffee shops, and venues) will go to the Red cross & the Salvation Army.

If you're interested, please let me know at calltoaction2005@gmail.com and view our website at [link]

Thanks and good luck with your art work!
